Informing and connecting the Nordic asset management industry since 2006
Tell Media Group is a family business, owned and managed by Malin and Niklas Tell. The company trace its roots back to 2006 when Niklas set out on his own to fill a gap in the market – a magazine dedicated to the Swedish fund industry. The first issue of Fondbranschen was published in the fall of 2006. Malin joined the company in May 2007 as the managing director.
For Niklas, the story started in the mid-1990s with an education at the Stockholm School of Economics and with a job as a financial journalist at Dagens Nyheter, writing the daily stock-market comment. After having finished his studies, he continued on the editorial floor and started covering the fund industry at Veckans Affärer in 1998, continued at Finanstidningen and then at Fondstar (the Morningstar business in Sweden at the time). In 2000 he moved to London as part of a small team with the brief to establish Morningstar in Europe. As 2005 came to a close he left his position as the European head of fund analysis at Morningstar.
Malin has a Bachelor’s degree in Economic History from Stockholm University and is a Certified Board Member from Styrelseakademin (Swedish Board Academy). She has also worked for Junior Achievement Sweden (Ung Företagsamhet), which is a non-profit organization working to promote entrepreneurship among Swedish students.
Over the last twenty years these complementing backgrounds and passions, together with a dedicated team, have proved very successful. Where Niklas was passionate about the asset management industry, Malin’s passion was all about entrepreneurship and building a solid and thriving business.
Today, Tell Media Group is a centre point in the Nordic asset management industry – providing products and services across research, publishing, events and advisory. The simple, but powerful, vision is to inform and connect people and companies active across the full spectrum of the Nordic asset management industry – institutional investors, family offices, fund selectors, wealth managers, distributors, fund companies and services providers.
