M&G acquires majority stake in Swedish P Capital Partners

M&G Investments has agreed to acquire a majority stake in P Capital Partners, a Sweden-based private credit manager.

Based in Stockholm with a team of 45 people, P Capital Partners (PCP) has raised some EUR 7 billion since its inception in 2002 and has a long track record in European direct lending. It specialises in providing bespoke financing solutions to mid-sized businesses that often encounter challenges in securing loans through traditional channels and may not wish to sell equity stakes to fuel growth. PCP has also been offering sustainability-linked loans for the past decade.

M&G will acquire 70 per cent of PCP with management retaining the remaining equity stake following the transaction. The private credit manager will become part of M&G Investments’ private markets business, complementing its established private credit and structured credit teams. “Tailored and creative funding to support entrepreneurs to drive innovation and growth is more critical than ever.
