Using digitalisation to gain an advantage on the investment front has been the main theme on Elo’s investment officer Hanna Hiidenpalo’s agenda for the past four years. This is ever since the Finland’s third largest pension insurance company was established in the merger of the EUR 10.4 billion LähiTapiola Eläkeyhtiö and the EUR 7.8 billion Eläke-Fennia.
“Somebody once said to me that if you think you have everything under control, you’re not moving fast enough,” Hanna Hiidenpalo says. The pension company has introduced several new operational models and digital tools to help the team harvest that increasingly elusive alpha. “In order to be able to harvest that alpha, you need to possess the right tools coupled with the know-how.
