In the spotlight: Rikke Berg Jacobsen, AkademikerPension

Rikke Berg Jacobsen, recently appointed head of ESG at Danish AkademikerPension, talks about the importance of purpose, sustainability challenges and what books she would recommend her peers to read.

I’ve always been interested in the intersection between economics and society. Early in my career, I realized that finance, and especially asset management, sits at the core when it comes to what and how the world we live in is shaped. Working with investments gave me the opportunity to combine analytical work with a clear sense of purpose.

If you didn’t work in the asset management industry, what do you think you would have done instead? I would probably still be working with sustainability in some form, probably in a private company, an impact-focused organizations or leadership development. The common thread for me is helping to drive positive change and building environments where people and systems can move in a better direction.
