Poul Kobberup has been promoted to the role as chief investment officer at Danica Pension, the pension company arm of Danske Bank. He joined Danica in 2015 to take on the role as head of rates, having previously worked as head of fixed income at rival PFA Asset Management. Anders Svennesen, Danica’s former chief investment officer, will going forward solely focus on his role in the wealth management department where he works as co-chief investment officer focusing on solutions and illiquid assets.
Aalto University Endowment replaces ex-CIO Kati Eriksson
Aalto university endowment has appointed a new chief investment officer after the departure of Kati Eriksson to the role of head of institutional banking in Finland at Danske Bank at the end of last year.
The new chief investment officer Iivo Paukkeri has started in his new role at the beginning of this month. His earlier experience includes portfolio and treasury management positions at Aalto University as well as corporate treasury at Metso Group.
He will report to Marianna Bom, chief financial officer of Aalto University.
Oaktree Capital Management lays roots in the Nordics
Oaktree Capital Management has taken permanent residence in the Nordics with the opening of its first office in the area along with the hire of Tomi Långström, who has joined the firm as a managing director of the EMEA marketing team covering the Nordics and the Netherlands.
Unlike most of the international asset managers that tend to open an office in either Copenhagen or Stockholm, Oaktree Capital Management has chosen Helsinki as the location of its Nordic home. The architect behind the firm’s expansion strategy is the industry veteran Peter Preisler, who joined the specialist alternative manager in 2018.
Before joining Oaktree Capital Management, Tomi Långström worked as managing director and regional head for the Nordics at PineBridge Investments. He has also spent some time at Man Investments where he worked as the head of the Nordic and Eastern European client relations team and global head of business development. Last but not least, he was also the founder and CEO of Northern Star Partners, an independent Finnish asset manager where he focused on business development.
New head of real assets at Alecta
Axel Brändström is joining Sweden’s largest asset owner Alecta to take on the newly created role as head of real assets. At Alecta, he will be joining his former boss Hans Sterte, who jumped ship from Skandia to Alecta almost two years ago. Axel Brändström is currently on gardening leave after departing from his former job as chief investment officer at Skandia Investment Management, the Swedish pension company’s investment arm and a position not to be confused with that of Lars-Göran Orrevall, Skandia’s chief investment officer. Axel Brändström commented on an article in IPE about the job change that it would be fun and exciting.
New recruit to T. Rowe Price in Denmark
T. Rowe Price has hired Rune Alexander Øst to its Copenhagen team and to work with Danish investor relations. He joins the firm at the beginning of February and previously worked at Nordea Markets, where he was heading up its Danish institutional solutions group. “He will focus on helping primarily Danish investors reach their objectives and goals. Rune come from a very strong solution background, which will be key to be relevant and impactful in client engagement going forward,” commented Jan Eggertsen, head of mid and northern Europe at T. Nina Jahanbin has taken over from Henrik Hoffmann-Fischer as the head of Nordics at UBP.
New head of Nordics at WisdomTree
WisdomTree has hired Ravinder Azad as head of Nordic and UK sales. He joins from Invesco, where he worked as UK ETF business development director. In his new role, Ravinder Azad will head the ETF provider’s sales and business development efforts across the Nordics and UK.
