Women in finance – Lisbeth Gyland

In this week's article Lisbeth Gyland, CEO and partner of the Norwegian Arctic Asset Management, talks about how she ended up in charge of the NOK 23 billion (EUR 2.2 billion) asset management firm, the challenges her job brings her and what inspires her.

Lisbeth Gyland is CEO and partner in Arctic Asset Management (AAM) and has led the company since its establishment in 2010. AAM is an independent asset manager owned by the employees, Arctic Holdings and Rasmussengruppen. The company manages products in equity and fixed income funds as well as discretionary mandates and has offices in Oslo and Stockholm. Prior to this she was CEO and chief investment officer of fixed income management in Orkla Finans Fondsforvaltning. 

WHAT DID YOU DREAM OF BECOMING AS A CHILD? I dreamed of becoming a police officer and preferably an investigator, but unfortunately did not have the height required to enter the police academy. So I ended up in finance through some fortunate circumstances. HOW DID YOU END UP IN YOUR CURRENT JOB? That it became Arctic Asset Management (AAM) is a bit coincidental.
